GREAT SPOTTED WOODPECKER // DENDROCOPUS MAJOR (24cm)

GREAT SPOTTED WOODPECKER // DENDROCOPUS MAJOR (24cm)

ARCHIVES image!! not shown before, as the quality of the parent bird is not that sharp, but it was a delight to witness, but was totally unprepared with camera settings.
Often seen climbing tree trunks or in undulating flight, the juvenile bird is seen being fed by its mother, note the red crown and subdued red vent colour on this youngster. See at Millers Wood.
